A summary of match report, with thanks
Griffith produced some of their best football of the season to run over the top of Turvey Park at Maher Oval on Saturday. The Swans came from behind at half-time to record a 57-point victory over the Bulldogs, 17.13 (115) to 8.10 (58).
Turvey Park turned it on in the second quarter to go into half-time with a two-point lead. It was only short lived as Griffith flicked on the switch after the break and kicked 11 goals to two in the second half. Griffith coach Will Griggs described it as the Swans’ best football of the year. “Our second half was really good. Probably our best football we’re played all year,” Griggs said. “The first half was a bit shaky. We did some silly things with the ball and was not good enough with our defence.” In his second game for the year, Jack Rowston was the best for the Swans, while Blake Argus and Heath Northey were others to shine in a solid team performance. Lucas Conlan was a late withdrawal after being called up for the Giants in the NEAFL. (The Area News – Monday, July 8, 2019).
