A summary of match report, with thanks
A strong finish to the third quarter has helped the Griffith Swans remain undefeated after a 21-point victory over Coolamon at Exies Oval on Saturday. There was little to separate the two sides for most of the game before the Swans kicked away to pick up the 11.9 (75) to 8.6 (54) win. Griffith coach Will Griggs praised the work rate of his players, especially after the half-time break. "It was a bit of a tug of war contest in the first half. I put it on the boys at half-time saying it's not up to me to say so much it's up to them how they respond," he said. "They Coolamon are a fantastic team and have some great players, and they are really starting to gel as a team."I said to the boys if they wanted to win it, they would have to put in their best efforts, and I think we really showed that in the second half." Griggs was quick to praise the performance of young Isaac Campbell who was given the task of looking after Coolamon's dangerman Jake Barrett. "Obviously he (Barrett) is an ex-AFL player and is a pretty handy footballer," he said. "Isaac is only 18-year-old kid and our vice-captain, and I thought he held him pretty well today." The game marked a milestone for Daniel Peruzzi, who led the Griffith side out in his 100th first grade game for the club.
