GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" April 14, 1995 - No. 2

It's been that long since Griffith had a win at Ganmain that no one can put a firm date on it and to win in the first game and in such style was a great start for the season. However, the Seconds and Under 18's failed to win which takes away a little off the gloss. The Under 18's put in a shocker as coach Terry Bennett put it, so it can only get better with more games together and with improvement the side will be a very competitive outfit. Best players were Matt Olney, Glen Vaccari, Matt Kenny, Adam Sara and Kane Duncan.
'Jokers' Warriors put in a magnificent effort on the bus trip home, but unfortunately that wasn't the case on the field, despite having 60% of the play, the lack of goal kickers in the forward line resulted in the gaming being lost. With some tall timber to come back into the side it will be a very competitive side throughout the season, providing everyone sticks together. The award winners were Brendan "Bomber" Browne $30, Richard Telfer $20, and the Players' Player award as well, as Chris Noack the $10. Bomber also won the guzzler's mug. Other good players were Craig "Joker" Bretherton and Ian Geddes.
The First Grade also put in a top team effort with everyone making a contribution towards the win. With no passengers in the side, they controlled the game from start to finish. The incentive award winners, which was sponsored by Quiprite, were Chris Conlan $100, Danny Files $50, Matt Cox $30 and Owen Geddes $20, and the Players' Player award went to Jason Vaccari. Other good players were Gary Argus, Brett Davis and Phillip Rowston.
Sorry girls, but I didn't have any netball info to hand. Tonight, it's Turvey Park, so let's set ourselves for a big weekend and get five wins!
