GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" August 16, 1992 - No. 17

A better performance from the 1sts against Turvey Park which gives the club hope for the upcoming finals, but there are still 3 rounds before that part of the season comes up.
The 2nds were underdone due to the injuries in the 1sts, but another sad day when we couldn't raise Under 18's. Hopefully the lads will rally for today and we will get a side on the paddock to enable the club to fulfill its commitments.
While Gus Argus made it 7 best on the grounds in a row for the club, he would have been least please with the support he received last Sunday. Not only did Gus show his best, he also led the side well in the absence of Matthew McGuirk, who was out injured. Chis Conlan played one of his best games for the season to take the top award, sponsored by the Supporters Club in front of Dominic Spataro, Gerard Toscan, Jamie Bennett and Brent Hathaway.

Damien Hill came up from the Under 18's for his first match in the big time and did well.
In the 2nds, Brad Hammond stood out as did Paul Woolnough, Jim Shannon, Ron Irvin and Scott Collis. While the boys didn't win, they put in a good showing and with a bit of improvement, and a full side, should be in the finals for a long time.
The small loss for the Griffith netballers to Turvey Park in A Grade sees things tightening up at the top of the ladder with Narrandera and Ganmain level on points with the Griffith side in a battle for 4th place. With 3 games left including todays against top side Wagga, the battle is on to grab either 3rd or 4th.
Next Saturday is the infamous furniture auction at Woodside Hall and if you have any furniture or saleable item, get in touch with Ian or Barb Wade. Furniture or other saleable goods will be accepted either as a donation or to be sold on commission.
